So, what is this blogging phenomenon all about? I'm about to find out! I recently finished and finally made "live" my Sown Comfort website. For years, I've had the dream of just being able to design, decorate, and create or make things beautiful and comfortable. I know I've always been very affected by my surroundings. I grew up being teased by my childhood friends for stopping to pick flowers and collect sea shells, although I'm still not sure why. This was perfectly natural and normal to me, and many others, I'm sure. To this day, two of my favorite things still remain the same: flowers and sea shells!
After High School, I, unlike my many friends, decided to opt out of college and instead join the U.S. Air Force. That may be a story for another time. Anyway, after an Honorable Discharge from the Air Force in 1988, I found myself wondering what the heck I would do next. I was 22. I worked in Accounting for almost a year and then decided to attend Interior Design school at Brooks College in Long Beach.
Fast forward to 2009, here I am, on July 13, sitting in my Sewing and Design Studio (I like the sound of that) and creating my very first blog, all the while re-living a few old memories that bring a smile to my face.
This afternoon I gathered together bolts and pieces of fabric in different shades of purple, lavender, lime green, and chocolate brown. Some patterns contained bees, flowers, or fleur-de-lis-like shapes. Fabric to me is like art. I love mixing the different colors and prints. Being very pleased with my final selection, I took a picture. This, upon completion, will be my next blanket, requested by my sister, Jennifer, to be a gift for a baby girl.
